YOU THE QUESTIONNAIRE BY E-MAIL, WITH INSTRUCTIONS ON REPLYING.
The CUSTOMIZED FINGERPRINT Questionnaire:
The turn around time on CFP's is currently running fourteen to
sixteen business days from the time we receive the answers to the
questions below, and the reports - which are very dense and often
lengthy - are sent in hard copy by first class mail. (Air mail outside
the US.) Queue jumping and FedEx overnight delivery is available.
Surcharges are listed on the online order form.
To execute the report we need the following:
- Brief bio data including information on any publishing history.
- Is the book you wish to market right now fiction or non fiction?
Broadly speaking, into which of the following genres would you
say your book fits? (And we know nothing is ever a perfect fit.)
Non-Fiction: Self-help/True Experience/History-Politics/Spiritual/Mind-Body-Health/Biography
Fiction: Mainstream/Mystery/Thriller/Science Fiction/Romance/Literary
Fiction
Provide a one or two sentence abstract of the book and if possible
include the title. It should be no more than fifty words:
Examples: THE GODFATHER is a book about the rise to power of a Mafia
family and the way in which power is passed from generation to generation.
It is told by an omniscient observer, and while set in the US includes
scenes set in Sicily.
ANGELA'S ASHES is the true story of a childhood of extreme poverty
and deprivation spent largely in Ireland, and told in the highly
distinctive first person voice of the child.
Finally include a three or four paragraph précis of the book. As
much as possible try and give us a sense of your writing style in
this effort, as well as an overview of content - remember, however,
that we are not looking for a blow-by-blow plot synopsis or details
of the content of every chapter of your non-fiction proposal. Give
us a sense of the shape of the book.
If there are any agents whom you do not wish to have included. (The
agent you had last year and hated would be a good example, as would
any who have already been queried and were not interested) give
us that data at this time. If you have any other specific requirements,
this is also the time to tell us about them. We will not, however,
accept criteria based on commissions (15% domestic has become standard)
or location within a country. (Most agents are in New York, LA or
possibly Chicago or DC in the US, and in Toronto or London in Canada
or the UK respectively. We cannot find you an agent close to your
hometown.) If you wish to specify a nation (US, Canada, or UK) that
is perfectly acceptable. Otherwise we will assume you are looking
for an agent in your home country.
